Squirrels are coming to 25th Braid!

Date: 12th Oct 2021 Author: Vicki Fraser

You might have seen the recent news that The Scout Association are introducing a new section for 4 and 5 year olds – Squirrels. The 25th Braid Scout Group are very excited to announce that we are opening one of the first Squirrel drays in Edinburgh in November!

Although Squirrel scouts are new, we have a leadership team in place who are experienced both in scouting and working with early years.  The programme has been developed in partnership with early years experts and extensively trialled by scouting. Squirrels will get to experience a fantastic range of age appropriate but challenging activities. They will have an early introduction to traditional scout skills, earn badges to show their effort and achievements and most importantly, have lots of fun!

We will hold Squirrel meetings on Thursday evenings during school term times from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. We are currently looking to hold our 1st meeting on the 11th November 2021.  We will have some sessions indoors, but in the long term we intend to do as much outdoors as possible in locations like the Hermitage, Braidburn Valley Park and also Bonaly Scout centre occasionally.

If you are interested in finding out more, one of our Squirrel leaders would love talk to you. We can explain what we plan to offer as part of the Squirrels programme and we would love to hear about your child.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
